Root & Rise counselling offers a holistic approach to mental health that emphasizes understanding one’s past (roots) while promoting personal development and resilience (rise). Exploring one’s roots creates foundational support and stability for growth. Understanding their origins and personal history allows clients to gain insights into their experiences and underlying issues that may impact their mental health. This process fosters deeper self-understanding and acceptance.
Focus on Rising Up
The focus on rising up ensures that clients do not become “stuck” in their roots. With an emphasis on values, self-acceptance, self-compassion, and resilience, clients are empowered to move forward toward self-improvement, enhance their mental well-being, and achieve their personal goals and aspirations.
Meet Jodi
As a registered clinical counsellor, I am dedicated to providing a safe and supportive space where individuals can explore their challenges. My practice is rooted in trauma-informed care and person-centered principles, ensuring clients feel valued and understood. I believe everyone has the capacity to learn and grow from their experiences and move forward in a way that feels more grounded. My role is to support you on this journey in a way that feels best for you.

Therapeutic Approach
I utilize mindfulness approaches to help clients feel more grounded and present, and better able to connect the cognitive experience in their minds with the physical experience in their bodies. This connection is essential for understanding our feelings, behaviours, and experiences. By fostering awareness of the present moment, clients can gain insights into their emotional responses and develop healthier coping strategies.
My approach incorporates behavioural techniques from Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), an evidence-based practice that emphasizes the importance of accepting thoughts and feelings rather than fighting against them. Through ACT, I guide individuals in identifying their core values and aligning actions with those values, which can lead to greater self-sufficiency and fulfillment.
